John C. Havens is VP, Business Development for BlogTalkRadio.com, the Social Broadcasting Network that allows hosts to create live, call-in radio style shows using only a phone. John is in charge of BTR’s Station platform which allows organizations to white label the company’s technology to produce online radio networks of their own. John is the author of “Tactical Transparency” (Wiley, November 2008; www.tacticaltransparency.com) that focuses on how companies can utilize social media effectively while maintaining the integrity of their brand and not disclosing competitive or vital information. John and his co-author, Shel Holtz, interviewed over sixty different social and other media leaders like Chris Anders from WIRED, Robert Scoble of FastCompanyTV, Jonathan Schwartz, CEO of Sun Microsystems, and more (interviews can be heard at: www.blogtalkradio.com/transparency). Havens also was Lead Organizer for PodCampNYC, two of the largest Podcamp “unconferences” to date, and is on the Advisory Board the Association of Downloadable Media (ADM). He was the inaugural About.com Guide to Podcasting, as well as a former professional actor of 15 years. He currently lives in suburban New Jersey with his wife and two children.
